The BFG

Title: The BFG
Authour: Roald Dahl
Pages: 208

Summary
When Soppie was sleeping in her warm bed in an orphanage, she got a strange feeling that she never felt before. The world was so quiet as it was dead, and she saw a really tall shadow moving outside of her room. It was a giant and he took Sophie to his home which was in a giant land. At first she was so scared but she found out the giant was a Big Friendly Giant, so she has no worries anymore. However, the other giants in athe giant land, they go to countries where human live and eat some for supper every night. Sophie couldn't stand what the filthy giants do, so she decided to ask a help to the queen of England and try to punish the giants.

Impressions
Since the BFG uses strange English like "I is right or left?'' which means "Am I right or wrong?", it was sometimes a bit hard to read. However, the whole story was really nice! And I was surprised with the Sophie's idea that is to ask a help to the queen of England. If I were her, I would't ask a help to the Emperor of Japan nor the prime minister. She is so brave~!
If you like Roald Dahl, this is one of the must-read book :)

About last semester

I read many books last semeser, and my favorite book is Danny the champion of the world. It was written by Roald Dahl. Actually, most of books I read were his stories.
The reason why I like this book is because its story. It's a fun and moving story. Danny, the main charactor, is still young but he is so brave and thoughtful, and also his father is really nice. I felt like want to have a dad like him.
About extensive reading, I thought it doesn't like study because I can just enjoy it. I don't have any negative impressions so far! In this semester, I want to read many books not only by Roald Dahl. Also I want to challenge to read books for adults!

George's Marvellous Medicine

title: George's Marvellous Medicine
author: Roald Dahl
pages: 104

summary
George is a boy who lives in a farm with his father, mother, grandma and many domestic animals. Since he lives in a farm which is far form a city, he has no friend to play with, so he often stays at home with his granny and play with animals. She is nasty and mean like a witch, and he doesn't like her.
One day, his mum ask him to stay at home to take after the house and give his granny medicine after lunch. While his mother is out, the old women bully him(mentally) as usual. Then he get a great idea to beat his granny, and that is to make a medicine. He take a huge pan and put everything he think will be effective on his granny and boil them up. That medicine is worked well to the old lady, but he get another problem...

impression
The story was really great! I like the scene of making a medicine. He put many interesting things and the materials sometimes looks harmful rather than effective. I'd better not to try to make the medicine. Plus, his fathers reaction after he saw the medicine's effect on granny is also intersring. He must have been upset about it, but it seemed he was really enjoying the terrible situation. I think it is one of a black joke and the joke is one reason why I like Roald Dahl's story.

First post - Introduction

My name is Saki and I'm from Nigata.
I like to watch movies and I'm interested in musical movies these days.
If you know good musical movies, please introduce it to me!

I didn't read books before even in Japanese, but though the class, I realized that reading is so fun. I like to read juvenile literature, especially Roald Dahl's storys are interesting. Also, these books are good training for reading books for young-adult or adult as Kamsin said!

My target for this year is to read Harry Potter (only one volume is enough!) and wicked.
I've watched wicked in a theatre once, but I could only understand its plot, so to read the book I want to know more detailed story!
